Price guides track what sold. We find the buyers for what didn't.
Every week, thousands of collector cars cross an online auction and don't change hands. Some bid short of the reserve. Some winners can't close. Some buyers walk away, and the runner-up says no. For the seller, it's usually the end of the road: start over on a classifieds site, without any of the auction's momentum.
And every one of those auctions had someone who wanted the car and missed it. Maybe they saw it too late, found it after it sold, or stopped bidding one step too soon.
2ndBids brings those two groups together.
How it works
- Buyers post the one that got away: the exact car, identified by its auction link or VIN, and the terms they'd pay, such as reimbursing the winner's buyer's fee plus 10%.
- Sellers and winners list cars that didn't close: reserve not met, a buyer who flaked, a win that can't be finished, or an owner who'd hear offers.
- We make the match. The buyers who want that exact car hear about it first. They can make a committed offer or message privately, and nobody's contact details are shared until both sides are ready.
A community, not just listings
Everyone has a car they still think about. Here that car has a page, a photo and a standing offer, and people who share your taste can see it. When one of those cars finds the person who missed it, that's what we're here for.
We're built to work with the auction sites
The auction sites do the hard work of bringing great cars and great buyers together. We pick up only where a sale didn't happen, and we try to send value back:
- Every listing links to the original lot.
- We don't crawl or copy the auction sites. We read a lot page only when a member pastes its link, and on some sites we take only the photo.
- Sellers are reminded of their platform's rules on exclusivity and fees before they list.
- We'd rather partner than compete. Auction sites interested in recovering sales that fell through can email partners@2ndbids.com.
Our lot reader
When a member pastes a lot link from a site that allows it, our lot reader (user agent 2ndBidsLotReader) fetches that one public page to fill in the car and the result. It doesn't crawl, and it caches each page so it's fetched rarely. An auction site that wants us to stop can email us, and we will.
